2010
Shrewsbury Children’s Center ownership unanimously agrees to forego NAEYC re-accreditation due to changes that made the process. The process of re-accreditation was no longer a benefit to the Center. The process had become a burden to the classroom experience. Our focus has always been on providing high-quality care, and we will let nothing stand in the way of that.

2014
Second generation family member Chris Casey joins the team as Operations Manager and begins his career as part of the ownership team at Shrewsbury Children’s Center

2016
Founder, President, & Executive Director Michael Casey unexpectedly passes away, and a new chapter must begin. The family rallied together to carry on his vision of high-quality care, and his wife, MaryRose Casey, became President & Primary Owner.

2017
Baystate Parent Magazine awards Shrewsbury Children’s Center the “Best Childcare” category.

2018
Baystate Parent Magazine awards Shrewsbury Children’s Center the “Best Childcare” category for a second consecutive year.

2002
Shrewsbury Children’s Center partners with Worcester State College and opens our doors to nursing students as a visitation center / student teaching site. Nursing students to this day, come to obtain observational hours for their coursework.

2005
Shrewsbury Children’s Center is featured in “Child Care Business” magazine under the Center Spotlight section. Founder Michael Casey is interviewed and describes “Success is in the mix” and how Shrewsbury Children’s Center offers a “winning combination of family ownership, extremely qualified staff, state accreditation, and community involvement.” Mike’s recipe for success.

2008
Second-generation family member Lesley Belanger becomes Center Director and begins her career as part of the ownership team at Shrewsbury Children’s Center.

1992
Received NAEYC Accreditation for all 3 Centers simultaneously. Joining only 3% of licensed childcare centers nationwide.

1994
Sold the Grafton Children’s Center to focus all efforts on building a new center in Shrewsbury.

1995
Designed and built, a new Center licensed for up to 175 students at 138 North Quinsigamond Ave. in Shrewsbury serving Infants, Toddlers, and Preschoolers in a 10,000 square foot facility (our current location).

1996
Earned Re-Accreditation status by NAEYC for both Shrewsbury Children’s Center locations.

1997
Incorporated full and half day Kindergarten program into new Center on North Quinsigamond Ave and closed the Kindergarten program on Stanley Rd. in Shrewsbury.

1997
Named Lead Agency for the new Community Partnership for Children Program funded by Mass. Department of Education. Responsible for administering funds dedicated to improving quality, availability and affordable Early Care and Education Programs in collaboration with Shrewsbury Public Schools, community based Early Childhood Programs, Licensed Family Day Care Providers, and Community Representatives.

1982
Shrewsbury Children’s Center opens as a part-time preschool program at 2 Wesleyan Terrace, Shrewsbury.

1983
Expands programs offered to serve full day for Preschoolers and Toddlers.

1984
Expands programs offered to serve a part-time and full-day Infant program.

1985
Purchased the Grafton Children’s Center on Old Westboro Road, North Grafton, and expanded services to full-day Preschoolers and Toddlers for Grafton and surrounding communities.

1989
Opened a part-time & full-day Kindergarten program in a leased location on Stanley Rd. in Shrewsbury.
